Gary Price has been a mainstay in the Naples community, since he and his family moved here in 1999. For more than 16 years, he has served the City of Naples in a number of roles and also founded his highly successful financial firm in 2007.
A 25-year veteran of the financial services industry, Gary continues to work as a partner in Fifth Avenue Advisors, located in the heart of Naples, where he manages wealth and real estate assets for a small number of local families, as well as handles business mergers and acquisitions.
With a huge interest in preserving the charm of Naples and a servant’s heart, Gary began his journey in public service in 2001, when he was appointed to the Planning Advisory Board for the City of Naples, and served as Chair until 2005. He was elected to the City Council in September, 2005 and won re-election in February, 2006. He was elected to serve the people of Naples again in 2010 and served as Vice Mayor for two years. He is currently serving the City as a member of the Naples Planning Advisory Board since 2016.
During his time on Naples City Council, Gary’s financial and negotiation skills have been put to good use. As Chair of the Naples Pension Board from 2008-2016, the performance of the Naples pension has been among the best in the state of Florida. As Councilman, he led Naples pension reform efforts, saving the City and taxpayers more than $160,000,000 over 30 years. He has also chaired the Naples Community Redevelopment Agency and the Metropolitan Planning Organization of Collier County.
His role in leading the negotiations between Florida, and state police and firefighters, which led to Florida Pension Reform, has received significant recognition by the state, union leaders and the media. His efforts were hailed by the League of Cities as one of the top five pieces of legislation ever passed in the state. In 2014, Gary was awarded the Home Rule Hero for the State of Florida, presented to him by the Florida League of Cities.
Gary’s ability to get things done and bring people together has not gone unnoticed by state leadership. Governor Rick Scott and Cabinet of the State of Florida appointed Gary to the Participant Local Government Advisory Council, where he currently serves as Chairman. In that role, Gary has used his vast experience in the financial arena to help oversee the management of more than $8 billion in public funds. He is also an alumni of Leadership Florida Class XXXII.
A graduate of Ohio State University, Gary holds a degree in Real Estate and Urban Analysis. He completed the exclusive Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School in 2012.
His local volunteer efforts include serving for five years as a board member of the Chamber of Commerce’s Partnership for Collier’s Future Economy and as past executive board member of the Boys and Girls Club of Collier County. Currently, Gary serves as a member of the advisory council of Champions for Learning, and he is a church elder and Treasurer for Moorings Presbyterian Church.
Gary enjoys boating, hiking, bicycling and tennis; but his real passion is aviation, and he is an instrument rated pilot.
Gary has been married to the love of his life, Kim, for 26 years. They have two children, Garrett, 22 and Kaitlin, 20, a sophomore at Florida State University.
